Back in Switzerland again

No falling today, but it rained about half the way here and then sprinkled until I got close to the end.
I discovered that the phone's touch screen thinks that some raindrops are actually finger tips. I had to find sheltered areas to look up directions in my kindle guide book.

Tomorrow looks a lot better weather wise and route wise. Here's what the guide book has to say.

Should be interesting and dry! Might be slow because I expect a lot of gravel.

I woke up this morning with stiff fingers. That fall did a number on my knuckles, but after riding a bit they loosened up and worked the way they should, mostly anyway. Maybe the train helped lubricate them.

Like I said it was raining hard in the morning. I suited up appropriately and set out. This is what that looks like.
I've also got rain pants but nothing for the shoes and socks. I'm getting laundry done tonight so I'll have dry socks, but the shoes.......

It is Saturday and Saturday market will go on despite the weather.

A number of these small towns in Germany started off as walled villages as a short of defense against all the world's bad guys. Some of those village's town centers have been turned into pedestrian only areas. Entrance and exit will be through the old archways.

Cobble streets still exist and can give you a good shaking.

it's hard to get a good landscape picture in the rain.

This is the longest covered bridge in Europe!
Doesn't look at all like the bridges back in Oregon.

But the Oregon ones don't have costumed guides!

View from in the bridge.

Hmm, I might usage stood right by this guy on the store!

Much of the last half of the day was on these gravel roads. Scenic but a bit wet so my bike is getting a new coat of grime.

This is the inside of my rain jacket pocket. I don't remember taking it.

Some sort of stork picking up bugs, etc. from the park.

The old salt factory.

Decorated building in another old village.

Everybody going home to Germany from Switzerland.

Here's an awesome sign post reminding me how much further I have to go to Rotterdam. Those are kilometers, not miles.

And here's a closeup of my route. I'm on 15, which has been heading west the last couple days.

Beware of the wild animals in Switzerland!

The recent rains have set some of the streams at a high and raging level! Wish I could show you a video.

Basel in the distance.

It was a long day and I'm just glad to have a hostel close to my route. Shouldn't get lost tomorrow!

Night night folks.
