I worry about locking up my bike outside for the night but the hostel host has said there was nothing to worry about. "This is Switzerland!" I worry anyway. But he was right. My steed was right where I had left it, completely undisturbed. What a relief!
I loaded my panniers and headlight and was ready to leave for the station - Zurich HBB.
With a little time to spare (3 hours) I had to stop serveral times to take more pictures.
The train to Arth-Goldau is not a high speed express. We're going up hills and making a quick stopat the village Zug before Arth-Goldau, where I am right now.
Beautiful scenery passes by and i tried my best to capture a few shots.
Some other lake
And here I am waiting for my 13:54 train to Göschenen and the Gasthaus Göscheneralp where I'll stay for 2 nights.
Sitting here in the bahnhoff I have realized all the passenger trains have an engine on both ends. You never have to turn a train around!
Just boarded. Hope this is the right train. Time is right.
Made it to Göschenen. Now to start pedaling to guesthouse. I'm afraid it will all be uphill!
Guess what! It was all uphill, about 500 meters (1,640 ft) gain and about 7 kilometers (4+ miles in the rain to the guesthouse. Glad i have my Red Ledge rain gear. I peddled about 2/3 of the way then decided pushing would be faster and easier
I am near where my Rhine route starts but am seriously thinking about a zero day tomorrow. I have this place for 2 nights and the weather is supposed to improve tomorrow. I may just explore the area. I don't want to ride that road again, unless it is down.
Tonight I'm having a Yak burger with fries. Seriously, they raise yaks around here. I saw cows and goats and heard cowbells (more cowbell!) on the way up here but no yaks.
Here's some pictures to enjoy.
Took these pictures from the train with mixed results.
