It was a beautiful ride today but there was a lot of climbing, missing a turn, and trying to find my hostel. I'm a very tired puppy so I'm going to try and keep this short.
I made it almost 50 miles and gained about 2,400 ft of elevation. Most of that elevation was gained on a narrow mountain road that paralleled a a deep gorge. The payback was a fun descent with several tight hairpin curves.
Rote 2 is also Eurovelo 15. I missed one of the signs late in the ride and that messed up finding the best way into Chur.
Lucian and Niki from Zurich were riding the same route. We chatted along the way but my picture takingleft me far behind.
Interesting landscaping
Google says it means Factory Acces. Fahrt means a drive. German smashes words together.
My room. Top bunk. This hostel was formerly a prison. Susan and I stayed at a former prison hostel in New Zealand.
The door looks almost original.
Met a tulip farmer from Holland here. He was playing an Irish song I recognized and I started to sing along. Arie and I ended up chatting for quite a while.
See you tomorrow.
It's great staying at hostels and meeting people from all over!
ReplyDeleteToday I drove home from Grants Pass. Went by several spots we rode together. I miss those rides. Nice that you come across like-minded folk along the way.
